4 Reasons to Consider Being a Digital Nomad in Mexico

Being a digital nomad means being able to work anywhere around the world that you want to (and can legally work), but how do you know where the best place to go is?

There are a ton of great choices when it comes to great places around the world to work from, but my favorite place is Mexico. I’m a tad bit bias because I haven’t travelled everywhere in the world (who has), but there are a few things that make it stand out from the crowd:

It’s Easy to Get a Visa

One of the biggest things to think about when it comes to being a digital nomad in a foreign country is the visa factor. Unfortunately, this isn’t something that everyone takes into consideration and it can get you into trouble later on.

Luckily if you’re a Canadian, American or someone from the United Kingdom, it’s super easy to get a long-stay visa. While you definitely want to do your own research into it, it’s a really simple application process and you only need the one visa that renews annually.

The Infrastructure is There

It’s fairly easy to get from city to city in Mexico, no fancy transport needed. The country makes it really easy to be a digital nomad in Mexico.

Many of the communities are relatively walkable (pending you’re not living too rural), and transportation from city to city is pretty easy to find even if you don’t have your own wheels.

It’s Relatively Safe

While there are certain areas that are listed as less safe than others (you can find them listed on the U.S. Department of State, you should definitely check it out before you go anywhere) there are a lot of areas that you can feel safe in within Mexico.

While you will be travelling so you should definitely exercise caution in general, there are plenty of cities that you can enjoy your new Mexico lifestyle without feeling like a target for crime.

There’s Something for Everyone

Whether you’re looking for a laidback beach vibe or a high-action urban extravaganza, Mexico has something for everyone.

Digital nomads can enjoy a lower-paced beach vibe in places like Playa del Carmen or the urban rush of Mexico City, whatever fits for your lifestyle. It simply depends on what you’re looking for.

Being a Digital Nomad in Mexico

Mexico is a great place to be a digital nomad, especially if you’re looking for a tropical climate, warm weather and sunshine. You can find the place of life you’re looking for, somewhere inspiring to live and the adventure you’re looking for as a digital nomad.

But like with any place you might head to before you pack your bags and book your flight, you’ll want to do a little bit of research about where you want to go and what you’re looking for. And don’t forget to build a budget so your cheap adventure doesn’t turn into a wallet buster.
